Paddle Courses

Learn to canoe and kayak with us…

Our centre runs a number of courses for both novices and the experienced, the young and the not so young!

British Canoeing (BC) is the national governing body for all paddle sports and Oulton Broad Water Sports Centre is a recognised teaching establishment.

Offering a range of nationally accredited programs run by a team of experienced BC instructors, the fleet includes open Canadian style canoes, single closed cockpit Kayaks and sit-on Tootega kayaks.

The Centre offers all levels of canoeing and kayaking, ranging from fun ‘taster’ sessions to courses leading to a recognised BC qualification. Groups are managed on a maximum ratio of one instructor to 8 students. Paddles and buoyancy aids are provided. We also run coaching courses for BC UKCC qualifications.

There is also the added option of a ‘Canoe Nature Trail’, which offers the chance for paddlers to enjoy a relaxed day exploring the Broads, taking in the sights and sounds up the river.

If you know what level of training you would like please let us know; and if you are unsure please contact us to discuss what would be appropriate ([email protected]).

Whether you are looking for your first steps in learning to canoe or kayak or for an advanced course, Oulton Broad Water Sports Centre is a great place to learn in a safe environment. As a certified PaddleUK training centre, we have the knowledge and experience to deliver a range of paddle sports courses. Our Paddle Start Award introduces the basics of paddling and the Discover Award will help you to develop advanced skills to the point where you can confidently canoe or kayak independently.
