About Oulton Broad Water Sports Centre

Inspiring confidence on the water since 1987

Set at the southern gateway to the Broads National Park, just minutes from Lowestoft and within easy reach of Great Yarmouth, Oulton Broad Water Sports Centre (OBWSC) has been inspiring confidence on the water for nearly 40 years.

We’re a not-for-profit, registered charity offering affordable, lifelong watersports experiences in one of the most beautiful and accessible locations in East Anglia.

From sailing, kayaking and paddleboarding to windsurfing, wingsurfing and powerboating, we provide a wide range of activities for all ages, abilities and backgrounds — whether you’re a beginner trying something new, or looking to develop skills through certified training. As a recognised provider of RYA and British Canoeing qualifications, our courses also offer potential pathways into employment.

Our charitable objectives

Our aim is to promote community participation in healthy recreation by making watersports more accessible across Suffolk, Norfolk and the wider East Anglian region. This includes:

  • Providing facilities, equipment and access to tuition
  • Offering subsidised and inclusive programmes for disadvantaged individuals and families
  • Ensuring no-one is excluded from participating due to affordability

Why it matters

Watersports don’t just provide a fun day out – they can also build confidence, improve physical health, and make a real difference to mental wellbeing. We’re proud to offer safe, active, and meaningful spare-time opportunities, particularly for young people and those facing barriers to participation. Everything we do is underpinned by robust safeguarding policies and a commitment to safety, quality and inclusivity.

At OBWSC, you’ll find more than just a place to paddle or sail — you’ll find a supportive community, a chance to grow, and the freedom to discover the water your way.

We look forward to welcoming you soon.
